If you know
it all, then you know nothing at all. If you know nothing, then the opportunity
for genius awaits you.
August’s Awakening, Day 14
He
that will not reason is a bigot;
he
that cannot reason is a fool;
and
he that dares not reason is a slave.
—William Drummond
There is a difficulty about
disagreeing with God. He is the source from which all your reasoning power
comes.
—C. S. Lewis
Do
not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of
this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom
of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the
wise in their craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the
wise are futile.” 1 Corinthians 3:18–20 NIV
You
have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord,
know it completely. Psalm 139:1–4 NIV
The
best way to learn and grow in mental aptitude is to listen and learn from those
who know more. There is no one more knowledgeable than God Himself, who knows
every intricate detail possible about every possible thing. Learning requires a
humble mind and willingness to defer to those more knowledgeable. If you cannot
defer, or refuse to embrace new knowledge, or think you already know it all,
then you will surely fail at learning and never get past the inherent errors
already present in your distorted mind. Learning is a continual lifelong
process and the more eager for knowledge that you are, the more that you will
gain. The best teachers are also the best students and the conduit of knowledge
should be ever flowing. Open your mind and let the learning begin.
