Is your character great enough for
life? If not, you need to make His character becomes yours.
August’s
Awakening, Day 5
The purpose of Christianity is not to
avoid difficulty, but to produce a character adequate to meet it when it comes.
It does not make life easy; rather it tries to make us great enough for life.
—James L. Christensen
No change of circumstances can repair
a defect of character.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
I
have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all
the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the
spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke
10:19–20 NIV
You,
dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in
you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
NIV
We all need character great enough
for life. Without the Holy Spirit living within us, we would never fully attain
that resilient character. We are not living this life in sole isolation with
nothing more to draw on than what the world can give us. We are living,
breathing, powerful beings equipped by the Holy Spirit to have the character
and resolve to overcome and to overcome gracefully. Only His leading can enable
you to soar the heights, withstand the storms, and persevere victoriously to
the end. Only one thing is required—let Christ’s character become your
character. Drop your baggage and character flaws and get fully yoked with the
Man whose burdens are light.
