Scarcity of Character

Is your character worthy, blameless and upright, fearing God and shunning evil, like Job?

August’s Awakening, Day 6

Certainly it is a world of scarcity. But the scarcity is not confined to iron ore and arable land. The most constricting scarcities are those of character and personality.

 —William R. Allen

A man should be upright, not be kept upright.

 —Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” Job 2:3 NIV

Truly our world is a scarcity of resources, and in no way more lacking than in the character and noble personalities of God’s people. Yet one person can make a difference, and you can be that one. Be the example for others to mimic and follow, don’t be the one made an example of. Let your character be firm in Christ and let your character be known to all and undaunted by the world or the guiles of Satan. Be the one who stands out, like Job, in a world of evil, to be the beacon of light and hope and the mentor for all who see Christ in you. Be the Job.
