The chaos of the moment or the inner
peace of Christ. Choose the attitude of your heart.
August’s
Awakening, Day 21
I discovered I always have choices and
sometimes it’s only a choice of attitude.
—Judith M. Knowlton
If you look for the good, you will
find it; if you look for the bad, you will also find it.

The inner attitude of the heart is far
more crucial than the mechanics for coming into the reality of the spiritual
life.
—Richard Foster
For
everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that
through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they
provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement
give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so
that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Romans 15:4–6 NIV
It’s
the inner attitude of the heart that matters, even if that’s all you have to
hang on to. In life’s difficult situations, choosing the attitude of your heart
and mind may be the only choice that’s in your control. Still, you must choose.
You can take the situation in all its tragic consequences and repercussions, or
you can make the situation as one with a gleam of hope with Christ beckoning
you onward. Tragedies will come, and we must overcome. We can only get through
with the peace of Christ that transcends all understanding and by choosing to
think, act, and respond as He would do. Find the ray of hope, the rainbow after
the storm, the calm in the midst of chaos. Let the attitude of your heart dictate
your response to the many calamities that this life will bring.
