Our God is a
consuming and purifying fire. It's better to be on the purifying side, so let
Him refine you in His fire to be made ready to receive His Kingdom. It's not
comfortable, but purifying is certainly better than being devoured.
August's Message, Day 11:
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be
moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence
and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29 NIV
Serve God
acceptably, with reverence, awe, and godly fear. Although He is gracious and
merciful, He will also ultimately destroy all His enemies with a consuming and
devouring fire in the times of the end. His fire is also a cleansing and
purifying fire, meant to purge away sin, such that holiness can take root. We
are constantly being refined by His fire to become pure and holy like Him. We
are being made ready to receive His Kingdom, so let the purifying fire do its
work. It is often uncomfortable, but to remove the cancerous disease of sin
often requires countless hours, days, and years of surgery and mending of the
wounds. We just have to trust the perfect hand and precision of the Master
Physician.
