Do you have what it takes to be
successful? You won’t learn this in school.
July’s
Awakening, Day 2
The
difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength,
not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.
—Author Unknown
History
has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered
heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to
become discouraged by their defeats.
—B. C. Forbes
Vitality
shows in not only the ability to persist but the ability to start over.
—F. Scott Fitzgerald
We are hard pressed on every side, but
not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned;
struck down, but not destroyed. 2
Corinthians 4:8–9 NIV
There
you have the secrets of success. The will to persevere to the end despite all
odds and obstacles along the way, persistence even in the face of failure after
failure to continue on in the direction you know to be true, and the inner
strength and resolve to start all over again when all has been tragically lost.
Probably not what you’ll be taught in business school nor the formula you’d
prefer to follow in life, but history rarely lies. Most of us would like to go
to college, enter the career we’ve chosen, and become the happily-ever-after
millionaire as a result. But life is typically not that accommodating, nor do
fairy tales happen easily. Life is a struggle, battles constantly raging, and
wars waged at every turn. The will to persevere, persistence in staying on
course in the direction He’s called you, and the ability to start again if need
be, knowing that He’ll provide for that too—that’s the true life formula for
success.
