Love Is Life

Love is the essential force and bonding agent that holds everything together. Without love, there is not life.

February’s Awakening, Day 8

Human things must be known to be loved: but divine things must be loved to be known.

 —Blaise Pascal

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand d only because I love.

 —Leo Tolstoy

Love transcends all that human Sense and Reason can reach to.

 —Jacob Boehme

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1–3 NIV

Love is what gives everything balance and meaning. It tempers the cold, stark realities of life and makes it all manageable and worthwhile. It is the heart motivated by love that brings about positive change and brings us into spiritual maturity. Love is the foundation upon which our character is built. The stronger our foundation based upon love, the stronger, more resilient, more pleasant, and more like God our character will be. Love lets us have hope in the hopeless, joy in the sorrow, peace in the pain, strength in the weakness, and faith in the despair. It is the bonding agent holding us together with God and each other. This world would be unimaginable without love—dark, dismal, with only despair. Without love, all is for naught—for we are nothing.
