From the
beginning of time to eternity to come, His love is the unseverable thread that
holds it all together.
February’s Awakening, Day 1
Thus I was taught that love is our
Lord's meaning, and I saw most certainly in this and in all things that before
God made us He loved us; this love was never diminished nor shall it ever be.
And in His love He has accomplished in all His works; and in this love He has
made all things profitable to us; and in this love our life is everlasting. In
our creation, we had a beginning, but the love out of which He made us was
always within Him. In this love we have our beginning and in all this we shall
see God eternally.
—Julian of Norwich
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne and I
founded empires; but upon what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon
force. Jesus Christ alone founded his empire upon love; and at this hour
millions of men would die for him.
—Napoleon
But
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV
Greater
love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13
NIV
We were conceived in love in the
mind of God to love and to be loved. We were born out of the creative word He
spoke, only to rebel against Him. In love, God sent His Son to be the
propitiation, the substitute, for our sin. In love, Christ bore the fullness of
the wrath of God’s judgment of sin upon Himself, so that we might live to
love. With the fullness of love, Christ
has ascended into heaven to prepare a wonderful place for us and promises to
return to take us home soon. When we finally get home, it will be then that we
fully understand and appreciate what God’s love for us was all about.
