It Doesn’t Come Easily

Forged out of adversity, purified by your Creator, is the metal of your character worthy to stand the tests of life, and remain bright to reflect His light?

August’s Awakening, Day 2

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.

 —Helen Keller

Character is not made on the mountaintops of life; it is made in the valleys.

 —Kathryn Kuhlman

Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments. Exodus 34:28 NIV

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. Luke 4:1–2 NIV

The greatest of character is not something you are born with, not something that you can instantly learn, nor does it come from a life without challenges and adversities. Character is forged in the fiery furnace of life’s seemingly unscalable heights and insurmountable obstacles. Character is purified by the hand of God indelibly etching His character essence directly into your heart, mind, and soul.  Character is matured and maintained by being constantly in His presence and lock tight connection. How you address the difficulties of life will shape the metal of your character, and allowing God to purify and strengthen that metal will bring your character to maturity, and staying connected with God will hone your character to the finest of metal that your Creator can truly be proud of and use.
