Where is
justice and righteousness? Where can truth and honesty be found? Timeless
questions with a simple answer. They reside deep in your own heart. It's time
to set them free.
June's Message, Day 7:
So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at
a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. Isaiah 59:14 NIV
Written a
few thousand years ago, these words from Isaiah sound as if they were written
for the world today. The bottom line, as Solomon said, "What has been will
be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the
sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NIV) Fallen people are fallen people, troubled
societies are troubled societies, and back then, they experienced all the
strife and turmoil that we do now. Where is justice and righteousness to be
found? Where have truth and honesty hidden themselves? The answer is simple,
but you must look deep. First and foremost, those noble qualities reside in the
One who made us. Secondly, those same qualities reside deep within the hidden
chasms and crevices of our hearts. They've just been chained and sequestered,
longing to be free, but kept in captivity by sin and the stress and strife of
life. So if you find yourself asking the question, "Where have these noble
qualities gone, and where could they possibly be found?", the answer lies
deep within your own heart. They are there, waiting to be set free, longing to
change the status quo and make this world a better place. Yes, the answer lives
within you.
