Curse, rant,
and rave? Or sing praises, give thanks, and glorify Him? How do you respond in
your deepest pain and affliction? Seek God and your heart is made alive.
May's Message, Day 11:
But as for me, afflicted and in pain— may your
salvation, God, protect me. I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him
with thanksgiving. The poor will see and be glad— you who seek God, may your
hearts live! The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.
Psalm 69:29-30,32-33 NIV
Singing
praises, giving thanks, and glorifying Him in the midst of pain and affliction
is probably not the first thing that most of us would do. But as for David, he
knew that the saving grace of God was his constant shield and protection. David
knew that God was the God of those in pain, those undergoing adversity, those
afflicted with sorrow and suffering, and those who were poor and needy. We are
all, "his captive people." Captives of sin and it's effects, captives
of the whims of the world, captives of the oppression of others, and captives
of our own selves. Yet, we will see and be glad and our hearts made alive, if
we seek Him, our salvation. Let Him be your shield and protector and sing
praises in your pain.
